Frequently Asked Questions

Overcoming Hesitations

Brand New Mothers:

For the brand-new mother this course is hugely helpful. new mothers often spend the first three weeks after delivery feeling like they have been hit by a truck. They are overwhelmed in every way a human being can be overwhelmed; physically, intellectually, nutritionally and spiritually and they are also likely to become sleep deprived. We strongly encourage our mothers to attend the course before the birth of their baby so we can help them prepare and lessen the stress of the first months after delivery. Even so, when mothers cannot attend before we can help lessen the overwhelm and give mother a real battle plan so she can be on top of the mountain instead of buried by it. We strongly urge new Mothers to attend with Father who did not just have a baby and feels ten times better. Our Fathers are invaluable.

Experienced fulltime mothers with other children:

Again, attending before delivery with Father is best. Our program is a family program. We teach parents how to bring older children into everything we do with our babies. By the time our older brothers and sisters are 4 years old they are a great help to mother and an asset to the program. They are learning on the job how to be a good parent when they grow up. Even 2 and 3-year-olds join in when they are given a chance. We never exclude them.

Mothers working outside the home:

Many of our mothers must work for part of the day to survive. We know that. These mothers are particularly sensitive about how they use each precious moment with their baby. So are we. If these mothers can arrange to stay home in the morning, and work in the afternoon this makes a very significant change in the quality of life for mother and baby. Some mothers arrange to work at home so they can make a better use of their time with the baby. Other Mothers change their work week from five days to four days giving them a whole uninterrupted day with the baby. This can be powerful. Grandmothers can also play a big part in helping to make a schedule that works for Mother and the baby. Many grandmothers take this course and like fathers they are a very big part of our program.

Mothers who work fulltime outside the home because they wish to work:

Either find the course frustrating because they really do not have time at home with the baby to do the program. Or the course itself presents the life-changing possibility that time at home with the baby could be exciting and provide a unique opportunity for mother and child. This course is exclusively for parents and grandparents.

Every day counts in your baby’s development.
