Melinda

Melinda was six months old when her mother took the How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course. She immediately began to teach her young daughter, and within one year they were enjoying a full program of reading, mathematics, Bit of Intelligence cards, music, walking and running, brachiation, swimming, Japanese, and gymnastics. Melinda eventually saw over ten thousand Bit of Intelligence cards covering a wide range of subjects.

When she was two years old Melinda spoke in full paragraphs with excellent articulation and loved to dazzle friends by reciting "The Owl and the Pussycat." At two and a half she began to play the violin and attend Early Development classes at The Institutes.

Melinda has always loved performance. She sang her first public solo at age three and would often create short plays and shows to entertain her family and friends.

She attended the International School of The Evan Thomas Institute for eight years, where she had the opportunity to study a wide range of sophisticated subjects. Her creative nature has led her to produce stories, essays, and illustrated books, plus beautiful compositions for the violin and piano. She has performed a major role in a number of Shakespearean plays and has designed challenging yet elegant gym routines.

When she was eleven, Melinda lived in Japan for a summer, and while there traveled to Matsumoto to study violin at the Suzuki Summer School.

Melinda's siblings-Katie, Tylan, and Tonya-have benefited immensely from her teaching skills. She has taught violin, computer, and creative writing to younger students, and through many hours of teaching in the school, she reached the sensei, or teaching, level.

Following graduation from the International School, Melinda attended The Creative and Performing Arts High School of Philadelphia, and graduated at the top of her class. She is an outstanding violinist who performed with various orchestras throughout her high-school career.

Melinda attends Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, where she is studying writing and film. She is an editor for the Sarah Lawrence Review and a violinist in the school's orchestra and string quartets. On campus she co-hosts a radio show and helped to form an experimental music group. When home from school, Melinda enjoys working as an actor and writer with Conflict Resolution Theatre in Philadelphia.
